- The section of the railway line Poprad-Tatry Krompachy part A.2 Markušovce (outside) Vydrnik (outside) is part of the double-track railway line Bratislava Žilina Košice Čierna nad Tisou the Slovak Republic/Ukraine state border, which is part of branch Va. corridor no. V., part of route E 40 according to the AGC agreement from 1985 and part of the C-E 40 route according to the AGTC agreement from 1993.
The main criteria for the modernization of the railway infrastructure of this section of the line are:
•increasing track speed
•increasing spatial patency
•increasing the bearing capacity of the railway bed
•increasing operational safety
•increasing safety cof passengers
•increasing the culture, comfort and smoothness of travel
•reducing the negative impacts of railway operations on the population
•improving and improving the quality of the environment
It is necessary to modernize the highest track speed to 160km.h-1 in long, continuous sections, build new tracksfunctional wiring, new security and notification devices and related operating devices that will meet high technical requirements. On the basis of these requirements, it is necessary to abandon the railway body of the existing railway line for a maximum of 60% of its length.
